Pakistan Captain Muhammad Rizwan has earned widespread praise for his match-winning performance against South Africa in the Tri-Nation series on Wednesday.
The Pakistani captain has scored 359 runs in 8 innings, with a century and a fifty, averaging over 51. His remarkable knock not only led Pakistan to victory, but saw him become the leading run-scorer in international cricket for 2025.
Rizwan, alongside his deputy Salman Ali Agha, played a pivotal role in guiding Pakistan to a historic win, chasing down a daunting target of 353 runs. This victory secured their spot in Friday’s final against New Zealand.
The duo put on a record-breaking partnership of 260 runs, with Agha scoring 134 off 103 balls, featuring 16 fours and two sixes. Rizwan, who batted through the innings, remained unbeaten on 122 from 128 balls, with nine fours and three sixes.
Rizwan’s century not only helped his team reach the final but also propelled him to the top of the international run-scorer list for 2025.
His prolific form ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy has bolstered Pakistan’s confidence as they aim to defend their title on home soil, starting February 19.
