King Charles and David Beckham appear to be getting close as the monarch bestowed a special honour to the sportsman.
The former English football caption attended his first State Banquet on Tuesday alongside his wife, Victoria. This comes after David was appointed as the ambassador for the King’s Foundation.
Although, Beckhams’ appearance at the major sparked speculations that the athlete may be getting closer to his much-anticipated knighthood.
However, an insider claimed that is not the case as former England manager Gareth Southgate will be bestowed with the accolade this time around.
“It’s not happening for David this time around,” the source told DailyMail.
“It’s Gareth’s big hurrah and David is thrilled for him. David knew it wouldn’t be his time and he is fine with that but you never know what is down the line.”
It was reported that David was hoping for a knighthood especially after the special invitation to the State Baquet held for the Amir of Qatar and his wife.
David was denied a knighthood during the reign of Queen Elizabeth due to allegations of tax fraud and international financial dealings.
However, now that the InterMiami football team co-owner is already forging close ties with not just the monarch but also the future king, Prince William.
