Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has announced a Rs 2 per kilogram increase in the price of Compressed Natural Gas
Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) has announced a Rs 2 per kilogram increase in the price of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) in Mumbai and its surrounding areas, effective immediately. This adjustment raises the CNG price from Rs 75 to Rs 77 per kilogram.
The price increase is driven by rising input costs, including the procurement of natural gas and other operational expenses. MGL had previously adjusted CNG prices to address similar cost pressures, with a Rs 1.50 per kilogram hike in July 2024, raising the price to Rs 75 per kilogram.
This move by MGL is in line with broader industry trends, as city gas distribution companies across India have been revising prices to cope with increasing input costs. For example, in June 2024, Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL) raised CNG prices in Delhi by Rs 1 per kilogram, bringing the price to Rs 75.09 per kilogram.
Despite the price hike, CNG remains an affordable and environmentally friendly alternative to traditional fossil fuels. MGL continues to prioritize its commitment to delivering reliable and sustainable energy solutions to customers in Mumbai and surrounding areas.
