Ariana Grande makes surprise admission about parents’ relationship

Wicked star Ariana Grande has recently revealed she played a vital role in improving her parents’ relationship after their divorce.

Speaking on the latest episode of WTF with Marc Maron on February 10, the singer-turned-actress admitted she forced her mom Joan Grande and dad Edward Butera to be friends again following their split.

Ariana opened up that her parents “are not together, but they’re best friends”.

“It took 18 years and it took me forcing it. I forced them to communicate again. I really did,” explained the 31-year-old.

For the unversed, Ariana’s parents parted ways when she was a child and it was on her 24th birthday in 2017 that she took up the decision to mend their relationship.

“I remember just kind of being at this pivotal point where I was just like, ‘You guys, I love you both so much. It’s been such a long time. Figure it out,’” stated The Way crooner.

Ariana further said that it’s been 18 years and asked her parents to “get over it” which they eventually did.

The songstress noted that her request did work and now her parents are like “best friends”.

“I can’t separate them. It’s the best thing in the whole world,” she declared.

Ariana told the host, “I guess they just had like, some sort of beautiful conversation or realised that like, how much they love me is so much louder than whatever nonsense happened way back when.”

Meanwhile, the 7 Rings singer mentioned that if her parents had the tools like therapy, they would have worked on their relationship sooner.

However, Ariana added, “It was just the perfect thing…. It makes me really happy.”
